My first time on this trail. The Wind Cave parking lot was full and cars were parked most of the way down Wind Cave Dr. I just parked before you turn onto Wind Cave Dr. and started from there. Guess I didn't realize how popular this area is. A lot of people headed out the same time I did, but they were all going to Wind Cave.

Hit the trail just after 8am and it was partly cloudy, cool, and breezy. By 9am, though, it was completely clear and warmed up fast. Did the loop CW. I grew up in South Phoenix so the sound of the gunfire didn't bother me. :gun: Only saw a few people the first couple miles, then ran into a slow-moving group of 10-12 people. They were nice enough to stop and let me pass though, and even invited me to join them. I politely declined and moved on. Nice views to the north from the little vista a couple miles in. There looked to be a few spots on the north side of the trail that were washed out from rain. My favorite part of the trail was the whole eastern stretch. Nice views of the Supes. There are a lot of nice ups and downs on this trail... AEG is really spread out. Cool to see some ironwood trees out here. This trail also has some of the biggest cholla I can remember seeing.

After making the turn west the trail becomes a little less interesting. This section all the way back to the trailhead was a little boring. It also became pretty unpleasantly hot at this point too. This heat wave really needs to go away! The heat combined with me being a little sore today caused me to not make very good time. Didn't realize there was another Pass Mountain trailhead until I got back. That one was completely empty. If I do this hike again I think I'll start there instead.
