Peak Bagging with Ken...I have always driven by the Maricopa Mountains, but have never stopped, and I wanted to check them out a bit...Ken offered to give me a small Tour... :)

We talked a bit about doing a small Peak while we were out there and it was on again, off again whether we were going to do one. We Parked at the Margie Cove TH and after checking out an old Well, I kept eyeing the Peak in front of me and decided to get the Workout...Ken wasn't about to say no... :sl: Anytime he can get a Peak in out there, he's happy... :D

We didn't really plan a Route, just started going up wherever it looked good...Of course, I wore my Hikers which have little to no Tread left, so I was even slower than normal, but due to my careful Foot Placement and Slow Pace, I can at least say I never went down on this Hike... About halfway up, a couple of Red-tailed Hawks made their presence and their disapproval known and we got to watch them circle for a bit...Based on their behavior, they are definitely calling part of that immediate area, Home.... :) After topping out, taking a Break and signing the Register, we decided to try to follow the Ridgeline back to the Vehicle...That worked until about halfway when Rock Pillars on the Ridgeline forced us to go around and it was pretty steep. Ken could have done it, but it was getting a little out of my Comfort Zone, so we bailed off the Top and went down the opposite side...I think I was slower going down then I was going up... It was a little steep and the Scree areas weren't helping...But we got down fine and Hiked around the rest of the Ridgeline back to the Escape...

Thanks for the Tour Ken! It was good to see you again and now I can say, that in addition to the Canyons we've done, I've done a "little" Peak Bagging with you too! :D
