It was a beautiful start to the day with cool temps and some clouds floating high above so I hit the trails for Siphon Draw. I wasn't too sure how far up I would go but I needed the hike for conditioning. As I was putting my gear on at the Mining Camp parking lot, I realized that I had brought along my old hiking boots with badly worn soles so this would limit today's hike.

The trail was being maintained by several young workers taking advantage of the cool morning. They were in the process of installing new erosion bars and removing some of the larger rocks from the middle of the trail. I thanked them for their efforts and continued on my way.

Somewhere along the way, I twisted my leg giving a sharp pain in the knee. As long as I was going up, the knee was fine but I knew it would get worse on the downhill part so I ended the trip at the slickrock. I took a short break before heading down then hit the trail. I could feel the knee everytime I stepped off a large rock so I just took it slowly back to the Mining Camp.

The trail had been almost deserted on my 0800 ascent, but as I was descending, I ran into the crowds heading up....adults, teens, kids of all ages and a few dogs thrown in for good measure, all slowly proceeding up the trail. Glad I got an early start :)

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.
