Nice hike up the summit trail and made Humphreys summit about 935 with good weather. We could see some touches of fall on the Aspens down in Inner Basin.
After some snacks and pics we headed down to the saddle and Weatherford trail. First time on this trail for both of us and we really enjoyed the views of Inner Basin. We made Fremont Saddle by 1230 and had lunch there enjoying the views. From there it was down Weatherford towards Kachina Trail...really cool section of Aspens and mixed conifers.
Shortly after getting to Kachina Trail junction the rain and thunder started to threaten. We had a few drops but nothing ever got going so fortunate to hike all day cheating the rain gods and never get any rain. Great section in the first two miles of Kachina Trail of Aspens and meadows on the Weatherford side. Definitely on the list to check out again with another loop combination. |
