Got a late start so wasn't planning on an epic day hike. Friend of Thunder God had asked me for some info the night before for a hike he was planning in the area today so I knew he was up there somewhere. His Xtera was in the crowded parking lot confirming he was out there. Found some pottery sherds just off CC #4 where I started the off-trail climb up to the hilltop so prospects were looking good. Zig-Zagged around the hill top looking for ruins with no success, just a couple of vague petroglyphs not worth photographing. Got a text message from FOTG that he was about 2 miles away on CC #4 and headed my way so went back down to the trail to wait for him. He had a great day finding a bunch of neat stuff using the planning track I sent him for a backpacking trip I was planning for the next weekend. That's the problem with a guy who can cover an area on a day hike that will take me a 2-3 day backpacking trip to cover. Oh well, all that stuff will still be there next weekend. |
