Went down South Kaibab and up Bright Angel. Could not believe the tight switchbacks! There were times that I thought, "Hmm, maybe we just jump from here!" because as I was walking along I just couldn't see where the trail was going to go down. But the BEST part of this portion is the clear demarcation between each layer. My feet would be completely red and then I'd walk into the green sand/gravel. Then my shoes would turn green and I'd walk into the brown. It was so cool to experience the different layers! From Tonto down to the river, I was sure that my toes would go right through my shoes! Relentlessly downhill. As the bridge approached, again, there didn't appear to be any way to get from the trail to the bridge. Loved the tunnel! Had a nice break at BA campground, filled up with water and headed up BA to a shower and food! |
