| no partners | | I started the hike from Meridian Rd and McDowell Blvd intersection. I had a little trouble figuring out where to cross the wash to get on the Pass Mtn Trail, but once that task was completed the path was well marked. I chose to follow the trail clockwise since it is supposed to be a little easier. If it is then I am glad that I did.
Overall, the hike was very enjoyable. I did encounter a group of ~30 horseback riders (twice) that caused me to slow down a bit to let them pass. The southern and western sides of the loop are not very isolated from civilization. In fact, don't forget to bring some music to listen to since the shooting range is within hearing range for a good portion of the hike. Once you get to the north and east side, you finally feel like you have left it behind. Great views to the north including the fountain in Fountain Hills.
There are a lot of hills and a lot of rocks. My knees are going to need some recovery time. I plan on doing this one again in the future. |
