I always considered this portion of Arizona between Patagonia Mountains and Huachuca Mountains to be like Creosote bushes, Just something to occupy space between places of interest. I was so wrong, I found this place to be very interesting and full of history. If it weren't for the occasional plane flying overhead you could not tell you were in the 20th century (I know it's now the 21st). I was also amazed at the amount of water flowing in the streams and some of them are Permanent streams. This hike was round trip starting at South Lake drive heading East to Collins Canyon Pass (half way point to Conelo Pass) and then heading back east to trail start. From there I continue East for 1.25 miles to Montezuma Canyon Road and then head back to the start point. Great fall to spring Hike. |
