I had more places to look east of New River. I plotted a route but abandoned it about half way through deciding to continue up a ridge. This took me to a high shelf area not too far below the New River Mesa edge and allowed me to come down a second ridge.

There were fewer cultural finds than in my other recent trips in this area. There was a single room with pottery pieces half way up the first ridge and then a larger site at the top - but nothing very impressive and the few petroglyphs I saw were faint and indistinct.

The descent ridge had thicker growth and was slow going and I didn't find any signs of ancient people there.

Still it was great to have a pleasant outing in mid-May this close to town.
