| no partners | | A Native of Arizona and I've never been to Boyce Thompson Arboretum....
They were having a Free Day and also it's the First Day they were changing to Summer Hours starting at 6:00 A.M. I figured if I'm going that Early, may as well go a little Earlier and see if I can catch a good Sunrise. Left the House at 4:15... No Clouds except at the very far Horizon, so the Sunrise Color was a Bust. But the Golden Hour was Nice...
Got to the Arboretum at 6:15 and apparently their Change to Summer Hours must not have been too Advertised...I was the only one there for the first 1 1/2 Hours... It was a little Chilly as I just wore Shorts and a T-Shirt, and didn't bring anything Warmer...It was May, it had been Warm during the Day, and the Forecast had Clear Skies going for the Day...I kept waiting for the Sun to start warming things up, but it wasn't to be. The Clouds on the Distant Horizon? They came with the Sun and stayed just ahead of it long enough to keep the Sun hidden...As the Morning progressed, the Wind started picking up and more Clouds came in and things appeared to be Building up into a possible Storm...I ended up with mostly Overcast for most of the Day. At Times, if I wasn't moving, I was actually getting Chilled...
I did the Big Loop, most of the Small Loops and Repeated a few Areas...Really awesome Blooms and Birds on this Day...Some Places, I just sat for awhile and waited for the Birds to come in...This Paid off several Times... Just before Leaving, I bought my Mom a little Blooming Cactus for Mother's Day...She loves Cactus and has a nice Garden..
The Clouds were still so Good that I decided to just waste some time and stay over there for Sunset...Went over to the Visitor's Center and Park, picked up a couple of more Bird Shots and then had some Mexican Food... Went back over and waited for Sunset...The Sun and Clouds played some nice Games during the Golden Hour, but of Course, when it came time for the Sun to set, most of the Clouds disappeared except for right on the Horizon, so the Colors couldn't break through...
Still a very Good Day with LOTS of Photos...You guys are getting off easy... |

Wildflowers Observation Light Palo Verdes were still Blooming and a few other Cactus Flowers here and there... |
