Had a group of six of us give this ago, none of us had been to this one before so it was a great new experience for everyone. With about a mile to go to the top we got a brief rain storm. It passed right as we reached the meadow with the cabin so that worked out nicely. As we approached the tower the DPS air rescue helicoptor was searching the air for a while. A group of backpackers was setting up shop a little ways behind the cabin, seemed like a nice spot. We ate lunch then headed back down. It was a good day, we all really enjoyed it. We also planned on hitting up the lave river cave too, but decided on heading into town for some real food instead.

As for the mileage I keep seeing people getting different results, my garmin logged 4.67 miles up to the tower.
