Both trailheads can be easily reached off Lost Park Road, which branches east off US 285 just north of Jefferson, Colorado. Since Jefferson is a wide spot in the road, a better marker would be that it is about 20 NE of Fairplay. Excellent trail but somewhat limited for vistas of the beautiful mountains nearby. Lots of wildflowers and great diversity in the Eastern couple of miles. My track from Rock Creek TH begins with a little bushwhack up the western side of Rock Creek. I recommend crossing Rock Creek at the trailhead and hiking up the spur to the CT. It's a little easier than what we did. Best done as a key exchange. Lost Park Road is a little rough in spots but a sedan could make it. |
