This is one of my favorite trails in the north end of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve because of the scenic granite rock formations. It's an easy hike on a fairly level well groomed trail so the only way to get much of a workout is to up the pace and minimize the stop time for picture taking and yakking which I attempted with limited success. On this weekday afternoon I only encountered 4 hikers and 4 mountain bikers but I expect it is much busier on weekends. One couple, snow birders from Minnesota, were quite cheerful despite having had their first encounter with cholla cactus buds.
