I didn't feel well early but felt better by 8am so I decided to head out. I wanted to stay close and revisit a few spots that I may have rushed through on past trips. Four Peaks looked awesome from the upper lot so I took a photo before even starting the hike. The trails are wet but the mud can be avoided. The hike in on Second Water trail was nice and I talked to a few people looking to hike Battleship. I detoured through Second Water Canyon and came out on Boulder trail. I found a water bottle that I picked up and tried to find a way across Boulder Creek. Eventually the decision was to just walk through the water as the rocks were to far apart. Once across Boulder Creek I saw three backpackers and returned the water bottle to the one who had lost it. I wandered off trail as usual and explored a bit. A large group was heading up Battleship as I passed. On the way back down to Boulder Creek I ran into one of the three backpackers. He was looking for his friends who were on the other side of Boulder Creek. I told him I had not seen them and pressed on. About a tenth of a mile later I saw the other two Backpackers so I climbed a rock and motioned to the first one that they were up ahead. Their group was heading up Cavalry trail and I decided to go off trail (imagine that) which was easier than hiking the Boulder Canyon trail. I climbed the hill and took a side wash to Black Mesa trail and cruised out Dutchman Trail. The creek crossing on Black Mesa and Dutchman were easy compared to Boulder creek. Get out there and enjoy the running water.
