Like a lot of Arizona desert it was littered with broken glass from target shooters and dumpers, but there was quite a lot of ancient pottery pieces mixed in. I wonder if all the 20th century trash will still be there in 700 years?
I walked up a few hills and ridges. I found an interesting circle of stacked stones on a slope and some cupules (man made stone "divots") on top of one but the others (where I had expected to see lookouts) showed no cultural signs. I continued along down into a gap between some steep hills and ran into a big concentration of petroglyphs. This place reminded me of the patio area in the SE Estrellas....a place that was passed by many early people for many years. More recently modern people gather there and did some appreciable vandalism.
Also Hazzer Petrophile recently passed through...I recognized some of his pictures. |
