I made it a half mile and parked on the side of Vultee Arch rd. along the big hill, with that being said my hike started in a tourist death trap! I literally became nauseous from the mass amounts of people, smells of sunscreen and sounds of garbage music playing over loudspeakers during the first mile of walk! Once I made it past the DB TH the walk was pleasant and I did not encounter another person until I was actually on Secret Canyon Trail. I have not done much hiking in Sedona but this is my favorite trail in Red Rock Country thus far! Starting out in the lower arid levels and then going to where there is massive pine trees and even patches of snow was quite the mix of scenery. The creek had plenty of pools of water but only flowed just barely in a few areas. There really is some prime camping areas along this trail and so many different sights and side routes you could take along the way. I would like to come back for a camping trip when the water is flowing and proceed to summit of Secret Mountain. All in all a very unique slice of Sedona and I look forward to coming back. |
