I figured Pinto Creek Canyon would be a nice mellow trip for her. I was transfixed on this place ever since I saw OutdoorLovers beautiful photoset that popped up on HAZ otherwise I really didn't know this place existed! With that being said I'm glad it's not well known to the average joe because the ease of access to this place blew my mind!!! I figured we would see someone at the TH or at least in the canyon but we had the whole place to ourselves. I don't want to ramble and I won't but this place really blew away my expectations, yes it's a very short and easy walk but the Views, the views are dazzling! With every step I was amazed how much clear cool water was flowing with giant saguaro cacti looming on the steep hillsides above. I was eager to hit the box/narrow area that I read about in the prior triplogs but boy was it was twice as astounding than what I saw in photos and honestly photos don't even do justice until your actually here just like most places. The sheer cliff walls, sandy beaches, massive boulders, and too many mini cascades to count this place was just downright wonderful! The way the light hits in this canyon is so many unique angles is not only a photographers paradise but there were so many options for good quality shade even in the middle of the day! We found refuge at large sandy beach area, cracked open some cold ones and took a nap in the sand while listening to gentle cascading water. I just noticed I'm rambling but this place really was something special and not to mention the friend of mine did incredible throughout the trip and enjoyed every minute of it! Now it's time to turn up the intensity full force and take her on a real hike! |
