the main event for our camping trip
up just before sunrise, coffee and breakfast
takes awhile to get to the trailhead on ajo mountain drive
we got started around 0830 or so
50 degrees, some shade to start with
up the steps on bull pasture trail
arrived at the saddle in a couple miles, then the traverse around bull pasture
the steep scree part is not my favorite section of this trail
even less so on the way down
jojoba bushes to hang on to
along the boulder ledge section and then the ridgeline
spent about 30 minutes on the summit, checking out the views, snacking, wandering over to the electronic stuff to the north
perfect temps, clear skies
returned via estes canyon
saw five or six people - three of them might have summited
i love this hike, even though the footing is challenging for me at times
don't mind the effort involved at all
great terrain and scenery throughout
relaxed back at camp and made dinner
john and janie's daughter and granddaughter joined us friday evening
they brought snacks
