We didn't see any other hikers after we turned off Pyramid trail. The hike goes on for about a mile and is relatively flat. You cross Gila trail in a wash (we made a wrong turn here too) in a 4 way type trail crossing. Stay left into the wash and then stay right. The trail continues to the old ranch ruins. The old ranch house has stairs a clear outline of an old house with a fire place. The trail continues on through the house where the back door would be. From here then hike is well marked, easy to follow and goes straight up fast. The hike up is easy to navigate for experienced hikers, but I would not recommend this for small children. There is some exposure to falling and lose rock. But nothing dangerous if you watch your step. The trail continues up and tops out when it meets national trail. This was a round trip for us back to the parking area. This is scenic hike with old ruins to explore and a good view at the top. I recommend it! |
