After a pleasant amount of rain this morning, I decided to leave the rain jacket at home and head up to Goat Hill. Not many people out, except for one group of about 15 chatty women near the trailhead who refused to yield the trail. Finally got past them when one of the group stepped off the side of the trail and rolled down into the wash. While they stood there and watched her flail around (she was fine) I was able to get around them with a slight detour. Didn’t really see anyone else after that.

Cool and breezy on the way up Lost Ranch Mine. Some slick rocks, but nothing of concern. Almost chilly along National on the way over to Goat Hill. Retraced my steps back down, no time for anything longer today. The vegetation along Lost Ranch Mine is looking happy right now. This might be a good summertime early morning workout hike—stats are about right and there’s occasional shade.
