Okay, okay, I'm trying to hike in the heat with some of you folks. Today I started at 7 from the VC. The parking lot was almost full. I was delighted that we had some cloud cover and a slight breeze which continued off and on for about 75% of the hike. Started out not feeling my leg power but after warming up, I got my hike mojo on. The air was pretty clear which I think caused me to notice things I may not have before including the dam, the house on the mound and looking downtown Phx was actually kind of pretty.
I noticed the one trail that wraps around the little saddle hill I go up and paid particular attention to where it merged so that I could take it Cclockwise one of these times. I've only done it coming from the other side. And now it was time to climb the bigger hill that takes you up to the road that takes you to Cloud Nine. Still impresses me the thot of having a restaurant up there. I kept my head down as I headed up the paved hill thinking it would take me 10 minutes, took 6. And then as they say, it was all down hill from there.
When I got back to the lot it had pretty much cleared out. 88 when I started and finished, humidity 50%. I was surprised that my forehead was sweating despite a fairly nice breeze that was blowing on the flat section. |

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
