Feeling rather confident after my Rincon Mountains ascent of the past weekend and since my calves have now recovered from the descent (and I'm sure glad the stairs at my house have railing  ); I decided to start hiking when I felt like it so I had a good breakfast, fiddled around on the computer and then headed to the TH. Plus I thot with the nice temps it would be way crowded if I went earlier anyway. There was a nice breeze so I was glad of that.

Of course this trail seems so much easier after the past weekend's trail conditions. There were lots of folks out and I even passed a few. There were some that apparently couldn't read and one that could but didn't care as his puppy leaped all over my bare legs. He said he didn't see me. Is that because you unleashed your puppy and started walking up the hill leaving him behind??? Cute puppy though. And there were a couple that apparently thot the rest of us would enjoy listening to their music. On the eastern side as I returned to the VC I barely encountered a soul.

I had things to do or I would have tried a couple different path options that I saw along the way; one new one too. Plus I have another route option idea. I would have done some of that today but I had to pick up my brother to help with some fix-it items around my house. This one Shaw Butte is sure a whole lot easier than the 5 I did all in one day (via hiking that Rincon Mountain last Saturday) ;)

The other thing I gotta a kick out of is there were 3 folks wearing their "steward" shirts sitting at a table under a cover and a ranger at the entrance; none out on the trail.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
