On the way into the trailhead we must have passed 30 Hunters camping next to each other. A few had already got their game for the weekend. We drove the Cherokee in as far as you can go and then started up the trail. It was immediately evident that the leaves were still mostly green.
As we made our way towards Upper Ash Spring we would see small patches of color here and there but that is about it. One thing of note is that a recent storm has taken out several trees. They are now laying across the trail.
The weather was perfect if not a tad warm and in no time we were standing on top of Bassett. Following our visit at the summit we took a steep trip down to see the plane wreck. It is always fascinating and sad at the same time.
After viewing the wreckage we had an easy trip back down to the Jeep. We decided to exit by taking the Sunset Loop over to Highway 191 and then up thru Safford and then on to Globe.
Dinner in Globe at El Rey was delish! Another fun trip with the Boys. |
