Albeit friendly brushy, the trail is brushy enough that pants would be a wise choice.

Forecast was 40% chance thunderstorms. Other foliage areas this year seem to be hitting prime 5 to 10 days later than historical averages. Current morning lows in the high 40s were not encouraging.

Opportunities don't knock twice and today was the day. Bad news took an unexpected turn. Color started from step one, continuing up the canyon, to 100 ft below the peak. It would be impossible to be better. Okay, there was a 3/4 mi stretch along the canyon without color.

Reds most desire. My favorite magic shades of orange put on a dazzling display. Neon yellow accents. Random occasional green leaf maples sandwiched in color perplexed.

HAZ photos over the years show color for a larger than avg 3 week window for this area. Oughta be a week before the exhaustive overload tappers off.
