This is by far the most water I have seen coming down the creek bed and in some cases flowing down the trail. It all made perfectly good sense as we made our way up the color strewn trail. In short order we were trekking thru a couple inches of snow.
This particular trip I noticed the colors seemed to start right away and carried through almost all the way to the spring. All the Aspen leaves have fallen so only giant trunks tower out of the upper creek bed.
Once on the Eastern Divide Trail we encountered more snow and even icicles. The travel was fairly easy going and the sun made the trip through the snow enjoyable. Roughly a mile from the summit we encountered a fresh bear track in the snow. It followed the trail up the mountain and kept on going right past our turn for the peak.
Up top the views were awesome with clear skies all around. A cool breeze made for a short visit and then back the way we came.
Another fantastic trip to one of my favorite peaks in Arizona! |
