| no partners | | Had a real nice time at West Clear Creek. Trail wasn't as flat as I assumed..lol.. but is a nice trail. Some of the Pools in the creek are so nice and some really beautiful scenery. the crossings are pretty simple. At Crossing #1 ya dont evene cross, maybe ya did in the past but not now. Crossing #2 has a log but most is under water, but with a 32# pack i decided to wade, which was good becouse about 200yds farther down the trail ya need to wade across again, so keep it in mind. I met a nice young lady doing a day hike on day 3 when I was camped at Crossing #2. She fell in both times crossing #2 at the second spot, poor thing, least she was just day hiking. Crossing #3 has a log which is above watter and fairly easy to cross. Crossing #4 is a wet crossing for sure, no way to Rock hop it.
I ended up being lazy and not hiking to the end of the creek trail. Guess Ill have to do it next time I stayed at Crossing #4 2 nights and the last night back at Crossing #2. Great campsites at both spots.
I met a older couple on day 3, with to little dogs. They said they saw some Bighorn Sheep. I knew I heard something dropping into Crossing #4. Was to loud to be a deer, big THUD of hoofs and then nothing. Wish I woulda seen it
Hope to have a Trail partner soon to share these trips with. I love hiking alone but sometime sharing it with someone is even more rewarding. |
