| no partners | | This is the eastern most portion of the Arizona Trail #16, Gila River Canyons, Kelvin Hwy to Walnut Canyon. At the time of this hike, the trail at Mineral creek was washed out so had to bypass it by crossing the train bridge at Mineral Creek and reconnecting with trail on West side of creek. Other than Mineral Creek and the Gila there is no water (Getting to the Gila is possible but the Vegetation is quite thick). Best place to get water is at Cochran, 16 miles in from Kelvin Hwy. This trail follows the river but there is still a lot of up and down climbing as indicated by an AEG of 3081 (1540 one way). This is a round trip hike. |
