I've lived in Tucson all my life and have never been on any of these trails. Usually doing some of the more lengthy trails. Really liked the Carrie Nation Trail with it's Carrie Nation Mine and Mining equipment. Lots of history on this trail. The Carrie Nation trail is quite a work out, not long but very steep toward the end. The side trip to Jack mountain from Auga Caliente Trail (.1 mile) was worth it for the views of Mount Wrightson, Florida Ridge and Mount Hopkins.
Headed back down the way I came and then headed South down Madera Canyon along the Nature Trail. This is a nice easy gently sloping trail. One of those trails you don't admit doing but since I did the strenuous Carrie Nation trail along with this I can admit it here. Nice views of Florida Ridge and mount Wrightson. |
