| no partners | | This is the first time I have been up this trail, even though I have lived in Tucson most of my life and have done most of the trails when I was much younger. I missed out. This was a round trip hike, down to the Catalina Ridge Trail and back up. There was some discussion on the Red Ridge Trail Description in HAZ, as to the name of the trail that goes from Canada Del Oro Trail #4 and the Oracle Ridge Trail #1 at Dan Saddle. I agree I never knew what to call it but I will go by the name on the trail head sign at Red Ridge Trail head and Call it the Hartman Mine Trail #401. At Dan Saddle they call this the Catalina Camp Trail #401. I like the trail number designation 401 because it links trail number 1 with trail number 4, therefore like freeway numbering systems, it's a belt trail and therefore should be numbered 401. This is a really nice trail to do in the fall when the leaves are changing. This trail easily becomes part of a loop trail starting on Mount Lemmon and returning either from the west or the east. Water is available in the creek at the bottom of the trail seasonally. |
