| no partners | | | This was part of a two day hike to Walnut Canyon from Flagstaff to the Equestrian Bypass Trail of the Arizona Trail to Hwy 89A and then back to Flagstaff. From my hotel in Flagstaff along Hwy 89A and 4th Ave, I hiked to where the trail crosses the track at Ponderosa and from there followed the trail to Walnut Canyon. There are trail markers along the roads to direct hikers all the way to through Flagstaff. The trail Crosses Rio De Flag immediately south of the interstate with a slight uphill grade toward a low ridge (150 feet) before heading down Skunk Canyon to Walnut Canyon. The trail is easy to follow and passes through a Ponderosa pine forest all the way. |
