I hit the trail early to beat the heat. The first mile is pretty smooth trail and only gains 300+ aeg. Miles 2-4 average about 600 and are pretty rocky. Miles 5-5.5 are like a walk in the park all the way to the north side. I saw a deer here and a deer there up on top. I did the Sedona view on the way back and saw a deer up there as well. I hit the little high point on the way back from Sedona lookout. I looked on route scout and it said Wilson Mountain was only 80 ft. or so higher so I hit that peak too before heading down. lots of downed trees and locust. I was chatting with a guy at the saddle and showed him route scout. He was surprised Wilson was that high. Some good views and I found the trail enjoyable. I only saw 11 people total on trail and that was all on my way down.
