Belated post. In Camp Verde for the weekend and was hoping to stretch my knowledge of Sedona trails. However, Mother Nature had other plans. Wanted to do Wilson Mountain Trail. Got to the TH near Midgley Bridge a little after 10am. Got the last parking spot. :D Skies were cloudy, but rain didn't look imminent. The trail was soft (not muddy) from previous days of wet weather and was easy to follow. The more the trail climbed the more rocky it became. This became more noticeable after the connector trail that connects to Wilson Canyon/Jim Thompson trails. The elevation change wasn't as rough as I anticipated. Most of grade was fairly gradual (though rocky). I was a little more than 1.5 miles in when I paused to appreciate my surroundings. That's when I noticed the line formed by the rain coming in from the south. It was very cool looking, but also very ominous. I decided on continuing on, hoping that the "bark might be worse than the bite." At about 2 miles the sprinkles started and do on after the clouds rolled in. I was literally walking in the clouds...and the rain. Not a hard rain, but very steady. The trail, that had been pre soaked by some prior storm, soon started to puddle and hold the water. My goal of Wilson Mountain changed to Wilson bench. I made it to the juncture with North Wilson Mountain Trail, took some pics and headed back. The experience was cool...actually cold (only had shorts n t shirt for the hike), but I was disappointed in not completing the trail. No wildlife. Encountered 6 other hikers braving the elements.
