| no partners | | Since my first time on Wilson Mountain was with Joel in the midst of a blizzard with a visibility of a few feet I never was even able to see the summit views so I figured a return trip was needed one day.
Found a small amount of flowing water in Wilson Canyon and dipped my hat in before making quick work of the switchbacks up to the "First Bench".
Everything was perfect besides the relentless 30+ mph winds gusts, there was a brief moment of relief on the shielded north side of Wilson just before the summit but once on top the gusts were even worse.

The views were nice but not quite motivating enough to brace the wind and hang out a couple hours until sunset to take photos as planned.
It sounded like a roaring jet engine up there and it just wasn't fun at that point so I bailed and semi regretfully made my descent down the mountain.
Went straight down to the creek via the Huckaby Trail for a post hike soak and was tempted to go to the old HS hangout at Grasshopper Point but instead just relaxed and took a couple photos until about 8pm.
Any day hiking is better than being at work! |
