| partners | | | we headed up to ashurst lake on friday afternoon. we got our favorite spot (#1) at forked pine campground. it's amazing how much prices have risen there but they still don't have additional amenities. $18 per night and no flush toilets, solar lights in the bathroom, or showers, which you get at organ pipe cactus national monument for $16 per night. seems a ripoff... but, we do love vic, our camp host. and we love to fish here. we pay extra to walk just a few feet from our tent to the lake shore. we got rained on in the middle of the night on saturday night, and didn't have any real weather otherwise until we were on our way home. the water is so high this year, too. we caught four on saturday and three on sunday. but you should've seen the one that got away... it was soooo big - biggest i've ever seen outside the hatchery. it took my hook with it. |
