The trail itself was essentially a small, muddy stream. Every drainage was flowing and feeding pools of chocolate yoo-hoo. Nice to see good flow at all of the falls. Skies were very clear, allowing for great views down canyon, to go with the sound of rushing water. A juvenile AZ black rattler gave us a buzz and hung out for a photo. I particularly enjoyed the climb up KA Hill and the change in scenery/footing. Pomeroy Tanks area was a waterworld. The trail was almost entirely under water, so we just took the path of least resistance, through clouds of mosquitoes. Weather stayed enjoyable all morning and we only saw one other hiker on the trails. This was a great first time visit to the area for me. |
