This neat little peak offered great views. Crest Trail was especially enjoyable this day. Everything was a vibrant green and wildflowers were abundant. We made our way over to Miller Peak, sampling from almost every raspberry bush along the way. The trail itself was great, tread wise, and beautifully graded. We enjoyed a peaceful lunch atop Miller and soaked in the views. Didn't see anyone else until we started heading down. Otherwise we had the trails to ourselves all day. Heading back down Miller and onto Hamburg Trail brought a change in scenery. The flowers and expansive views were replaced by a lush canyon and flowing creeks. This was a very scenic stretch of trail, plenty of nice looking camp spots down there, as well. Eventually, we'd start to climb back up and out of the canyon. Neither one of us really wanted to, though. We finished out the hike in a light drizzle accompanied by a cool breeze. Can't complain about being cooled off during the last uphill of the day. Truly an excellent hike and a great day in the mountains. |
