| no partners | | It was drizzling on this day, so we decided on a short hike in a canyon north of Termignon. It looked pretty good as we turned off the main road (D1006) and headed up toward Bellecombe to the le Coetet parking lot. Unfortunately, after we reached about 2000 meters elevation the fog set in and never let up. Even though it was about 4 degrees C, it was not cold since there was no wind. We hiked up the nearly 1000 feet or so and got a look at the Lac, had coffee at the Refuge du Lac Blanc and returned. I wish we could have had better visibility because the view down the gorge past the Lac, according to the book I had, would "may well turn your legs a little wobbly". As it was we didn't see any of that, but I did see two chamois below the lake. Couldn't react fast enough to get a pic, but... next time. This is supposed to be a loop hike but the return the road didn't appeal to us.
We returned down the mountain and did a reconnoiter of the fantastic via ferrata/adventure park/zip line complex at Aussois for the next day. |
