To avoid the parking chaos at peralta trail head and carney springs decided to start at hieroglyphic canyon lot.Immediately left the hordes behind after turning on lost goldmine trail.Only saw 4 hikers until about a quarter mile from carney springs,did see several mountain bikers,took a distant picture of some of them on the lower slopes of peak 2777. Once reaching carney springs it was of course busy on the way to wave cave, once there took the obligate pictures though unable to get any shots without other hikers. On the return just off the trail near peak 2822 took a collin street bakery fruit cake break and noticed several deep grinding holes,pottery and quartz shards scattered around. Lost Goldmine trail remains well maintained and in my experience allows a more solitary hike especially during weekends and holidays.
