Initially thought to ascend the summit via terrapin trail where I landed the last time I came down. However I noticed a way up, in the vicinity of the official posted route, above the old mining camp and found it had much less vegetation and was shorter than prior routes I'd taken, based on the large amount of deer and sheep droppings also their preferred route. No wildlife sightings however. Had the "honor" of being the first 2018 entry in the register, lingered a while on the various high points along the upper ridge before descending on the Ely-Anderson route. To complete this as a loop returned on Lost Dutchman trail.Encountered the only 2 hikers I saw all day, away from the trail head, near the coffee flat trail turnoff.Expect heavier traffic this holiday weekend. |
