Wanted to have today's hike kiss the Marsh Valley loop from 4 days ago and managed to do so with the stretch of trail between the Bull Pass and Calvary junctions. For the second time planned to get a picture of the master map but came up empty. Spent about 40 minutes scouring the Large Barge creek bed and came up empty. For today's route took Terrapin trail to needle canyon it was clear of vegetation all the way, nice hiking alongside Weaver's needle, continued on Lost Dutchman from Bluff Spring to make it a loop I prefer to go up cardiac hill than to go down it. Charlebois spring is a nice spot, the water looked clear and filterable, unfortunately creekside along La Barge just north of Charlebois canyon there is significant amounts of debris at some abandoned campsites.Had a snack in the shaded area just before passing Red Tanks junction. Passed 2 hikers before Bark's Canyon and 2 backpackers in Barkley Basin and no one else. Surprised to not see any wildlife today.Ran out of water and daylight just as the parking lot came into view.My Garmin recorded 19 miles and route scout 18.7,seems route scout is always a little less, also I considered my search time as break time. |
