| no partners | | There needs to be a bike and hike category as this was a 5 mile bike ride, followed by a 7 mile hike and then a walk and push the bike as I shredded my rear tire at the 5 mile point when I stashed my bike.
( I notice my hiking stats do not accumulate since I picked the Mtn Biking category which my OCD tracking and organization habits can’t handle, 7 miles or 700 we need to fix this )
As always a quiet and peaceful area, I purposely stayed in the Webber creek bed for the most part which would be an incredibly scenic place with a little water flow.
Lots of large old growth trees, bounties of shade and a true healthy riparian area even without perennial surface water.
I wanted to check on a unamed spring up in the hills which I also figured would be a great place for wildlife.
Found a few puddles of water 500ft below the marked spring as well as my only unknown animal encounter as whatever was drinking spooked out seconds before sight.
The remnants of a dead calf was found just a feet above the spring so the water was contaminated to say the least but if it wasn’t for that It would be a great place to refill.
Debated on heading up to the crest of the LDR since it was nearby but I needed to tend to the flat tire so I looped back to my starting point instead.
Little bit windy outside but other than that another beautiful day in Rim Country! |
