| no partners | | Another front porch hike into the backyard to a place I've always been curious about.
CJ Ridge just looks like a formidable little peninsula that I always thought seemed like a good area for dwellings or ruins.
On the way I followed a marked trail with orange ribbons every 15 feet or so, it was vague and seemed to deliberately go against the path of most resistance for whatever reason but the ribbons continued and so did I.
A mile and a half later I was still following them through dizzying amounts of scrub oak and zita and it was at the point I decided to stick to my original track.
I'm still curious to where it leads or it's reasoning because some determined whackadoodle put forth a lot of effort of ribbon littering to mark out some sort of treasure trail.
Wildlife was decent for the day, dozen elk with no bulls, one giant owl, plenty of jack rabbit and the remains coyote, skunk, elk and cattle.
Once on Crackerjack I set out for my target areas I marked out and sure enough I found more ribbons and this time even with cairns!
I tired myself out with 6 miles of off trail travel on my way so I only investigated the areas I marked for ruins and came up empty but there is still a lot ground to cover along the ridge and the fact someone else has marked out some trails here gives me faith.
Absolutely beautiful weather outside, sunny during the morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon with a breeze and the feeling of spring in the air. |
