| no partners | | Hiked fr 646 off of Chase Creek (between Whispering Pines and Washington Park) on up to the Highline Trail. It is officially summer! Temperatures were in the upper 80's and the sun was BRUTAL at first. Soon we found relief as the road went right into Chase Creek Canyon and we were able to go down to the creek and cool off. There was plenty of water in the Main branch of Chase Creek and the water was cold!! My dog Riley was in heaven. As we continued up the road it branched off the main Chase creek up a side canyon that only had a few pools here and there but was well shaded. The forest was beautiful here and had nice stretches of spruces, firs, etc. Made it up to the highline trail and hiked to our end point which was Chase Creek. The highline was exposed at times but offered great views of the rim. Came back the same way but explored the creek a bit more before heading home. Saw a coyote right as we got back to the car! |
