| no partners | | | With the recent heatwave we took up the opportunity to head up north and feel some cool air again. As usual with our son strapped to our chests we wanted something easy so we decided on forest rd 609? Right above Calf pen Canyon. We were hoping to make it to the rim of the canyon and get expansive views and oh boy we did. Calf Pen Canyon is beautiful and rugged and the pictures don't do it justice. Would love to go down and explore there someday. The forest road itself to the canyon was beautiful and quiet and easy to walk on carrying an 18lb baby strapped to your chest. There was plenty of shade and with temperatures maybe around 70F there was no worry of overheating. Was really hoping to see some elk for my wife but no luck this time. Had to have seen 5-6 pristine camping spots along the road and will no doubt be back. Didn't see a soul the whole time expect when back near our car near highway 260. |
