Scored a sweet little camp site and decided to check out Chase Creek again and some side canyons. Took the forest road up to the Highline like last time I was here (in May) and went east for a bit before we decided to drop down into a tributary of Chase Creek and loop back towards camp. The weather was perfect I’m guessing it was in the upper 40’s low 50’s. The highlight of the day was the side canyon draining into Chase Creek. Water started flowing maybe 1/4 of a mile down below the Highline Trail and had a respectable flow most of the way down(occasionally disappearing below ground) before entering Chase Creek. The forest was beautiful and came across a nice spring not marked on maps. Followed Chase Creek(which had a nice strong flow and beautiful little waterfalls) back to the forest road and back to camp. A great hike to catch up with old childhood friends! |
