Detour 1 took me a full hour, but that was simply due to taking a LONG, wide, sight-seeing arc before returning to look down from above.
Detour 2 was nasty... the walls on either side were a good 40-50 feet high so I had a treacherous ascent, followed a half-mile later by a slightly-less treacherous but far nastier descent through a boulder-field some three-boulders deep as well as thickets of thorny brush.
The best part about this detour was how well my new calf-height gaiters worked. Absolutely fabulous! I was unexpectedly pleased with their performance. (In the past I've tried a half-dozen different gaiters with results from 'meh' to 'awful') |
