| partners | | June is usually an ideal month to spend some time in one of Arizona's canyons, and I've been pretty good at making a trip each year recently. The plan for this one was changed a couple of days out, but turned out to be exceptionally fun and memorable. Part of the fun this time was figuring out a few non-conventional entry and exit points. It's amazing how steep and deep this canyon can be in some places!
The water temperature was great, as was the overnight. It wasn't too warm, but we were all surprised that it didn't get cooler overnight. I don't think any of us ever wore long sleeves!
We found an A+ campsite and the canyon was filled with light from a nearly full moon.
Saturday we encountered three others who were making their way from Cash Tank to Bullpen ... as a day hike and on Sunday we passed a Bruce-aged couple from New York who were through-hiking the canyon as an item on the gentleman's bucket list. I think they had made it under 3 miles on their first day, and were about 2 miles into their second day at about 2pm, so they might be out there for a while!
This is a fun one! |
