This group hike met at a small market and proceeded through olive groves and along paved roads. Some stops were made to take pictures and enjoy the great views. Included was a view of the tiny island in Palaiokastritsa Bay that was Odysseus’s ship turned to stone by Poseidon. About halfway through the hike a 30 minute stop at a taverna was taken that provided some delicious Greek food and outstanding views . As the hike continued we were able to pick wild blackberries and grapes and proceed on through olive groves to our final destination Palaiokastrirsa beach. Most of the others in the group were Americans or Canadians so we queried each other about hikes in our own locales. Not a fan of large group hikes but this was a nice day , carefree from paying attention to the route.
