| no partners | | | Nice brisk cold wind to start the day from First Water horse trailer lot. Proceeded down “Hackberry Trail “ to Hackberry Springs , some prodding with hiking pole produced a little trickle from the pipe.Last trip to the Superstition Wilderness for 2018, prompted me to keep going down Second Water Trail, met 2 couples that broke camp from second water spring,claimed it wasn’t cold last night. Continued up Boulder Canyon Trail then headed to the stern of the Battleship ,not the summit once a year is enough,then dropped down to La Barge Box. The lower pool was smaller than usual, no flow going in,didn’t bother to explore further up. Did discover it’s easier walking ,to drop straight back into Boulder Canyon following the path from the Box , instead of from the stern of the Battleship. Started seeing a few other hikers once getting back to Garden Valley. Went back to the parking lot via first water ranch. Enjoyed the waves of smooth rock flowing down first water creek,only a few pools of actual water. |
