Ray planted the seed and we were off to the foliage 500!
2011-2014 [ Pinal Mountains 4X Super Loop ] was the staple of my life. 2015 & 2017 were a bust. 2016 was a light 2X. Bruce threw together a nice M Loop and I was excited with multiple alarms set to wake up.
On a rare wait for Bruce at the meetup I was ready to roll for a change. Opened his back door to throw in my pack. A stranger on the seat scared me good. Hi Bob...lol
Six Shooter Trail #197
Started east on the lower lateral that drags on the descents. Seemed nicer in the shade as the sun held below the ridge. Light running water in the creeks and a newfound waterfall was a bonus. Upper foliage was prime!
Icehouse Canyon Trail #198
Per usual the Autumn show gets intense. Instead of the badass 23.8mi/6.7k 4X, Bruce cut out the bottom of Ice & Telephone. Which is near perfect as the bottom of these trails aren't on any favorite lists.
Telephone Trail #192 - Pinal
Took the slightly higher unofficial/older? crossover to #192. Bob brought a whine jacket and preached woes to the absent choir. The superstar of yesteryear was on his biggest hike of the year. It's still one steep lackluster ascent. Despite all his rage, Bobbie Rocket naturally lead throughout. Good times.
Kellner Canyon Trail #242
Still love the top half of this neglected stepchild that receives 1/4th the triplogs of Six Shooter. Oak foliage was perfect for the few that enjoy like myself. Still pay the piper on the bottom half praying for it to end.
Needed a great Autumn hike. Pinals delivered! Prob cut out Telephone and just re-enjoy Ice next round or mix it up with East Mountain Trail for a change. The @te_wa mobile was the lone occupant back at the trailhead. It closes at sundown so others likely passed through all day. Great to hike with Bob.
